HBC Troubles: Scott's Excommunication

And there it is, not wholly unexpected. They knew Scott was talking to some (an earlier email indicated that he had a very strong conscience about not reaching out to others, but responding to as many as contacted him). Commendable. The apparently divisive figure was most wary about dividing people within the church. That was not lost on us.

By their request, he stops all communication. Honestly, I'm not convinced they could reasonably make that request of him, especially not if he believed he was right. But he submitted.

Unsurprisingly, he did no submit to meeting with them on their terms.

After the Appendix we were done. So, to honor God, while we still had not resigned, do we reach out to Scott now believing he was at least more in the right than they? We held back. Wait, resign, then reach out.

So, I drafted our resignation letter, and waited (it wouldn't be long).
Another update on Scott Barao
Dear HBC,

We need to inform you that after receiving our Wednesday letter, Dr. Barao agreed to not initiate or receive any communication with HBC members. However, he has refused to meet with us to address his divisiveness. Therefore, we ask you to not contact him, but to please continue to pray that he will have a change of heart.

For the Chief Shepherd,

Pastors Leake, Plumley, and Mora
